Documentation of Commonly Used Ethnoveterinary Medicines from Wild Plants of the High Mountains in Shimla District, Himachal Pradesh, India

The aim of current study is to provide a significant traditional knowledge on wild medicines used for ethnoveterinary purposes in the rural area Maraog region district Shimla. medicinal plants have played role treatment human as well animal’s diseases. people were interviewed through questionnaire and extensive field surveys conducted from June 2020 July 2021. discussion, observations interviews site included 96 informants. information gathered residents presented table format includes scientific local names, different parts used, diseases treated mode administration. most commonly taxa are calculated with value. revealed 100 which trees (7), shrubs (26), herbs (56), ferns (5), grasses (3) climbers identified. documented livestock found be hoof infections, eyes poisoning skin infections. In study, Rosaceae family was reported being highest number (11), followed by Asteraceae (10) then Lamiaceae (6). It that leaves, roots, flowers fruits medications. phytochemicals present plant, such alkaloids, sterols, glycosides, flavonoids, lignin, coumarins terpenoids, etc., may responsible their properties. this documentation, it observed younger generation does not good compared older ones. Therefore, necessary preserve these before permanent loss. documentation conservation can start novel phytopharmacological research veterinary field.
